What Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich Thinks About Gonzalo Higuain Transfer

Chelsea owner Abramovich is set to lure Higuain to the Premier League, where the Argentine international will be reunited with Sarri.

Together, the duo flourished over in Serie A and a reunion in west London now beckons, with Higuain set to sign imminently.

Chelsea boss Sarri feels the AC Milan hitman is the ideal player to provide a focal point to their attack amid issues with Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata’s wayward form.

And, according to the Metro, Abramovich wants to show faith in Sarri by landing his top target.

It is claimed the Russian is happy to fork out for Higuain as a show of faith for Sarri.

Chelsea’s transfer policy in recent years has led to plenty of issues.

Jose Mourinho was smarting in 2015 when, instead of landing his preferred targets, the board gave him Pedro and a out-of-sorts Radamel Falcao instead. Antonio Conte, too, had issues with Chelsea’s policy.

He was fuming in January when the club signed Ross Barkley – despite the England international never being on his radar.

The Metro say Abramovich is willing to alter Chelsea’s strategy by giving Sarri what he wants.

But whether Higuain, at 31, can live up to the billing remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has backed Higuain to flourish at Stamford Bridge.

And he even thinks the Argentinean can be even better than he was during his time at Real Madrid.

“I think so [he will be worth the money],” Hislop said.

“When you look at Gonzalo Higuain and his performances, he failed, well not failed, but he had a similar set of misses for Real Madrid.

“You could probably make the same argument for Juventus.

“But then when you look at how good he was with Napoli in particular, I think coming into a team like Chelsea, where it doesn’t have the pressure of a Real Madrid, Gonzalo Higuain will be simply outstanding.
