Manchester United are keen on signing £25million-rated winger Steven Bergwijn from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

The Red Devils sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action earlier in the season and are now ready to test PSV’s resolves with a bid for the forward.

Bergwijn signed an extension in June to stay in Holland until 2022, as PSV rejected bids from Torino and Bordeaux for his serviced in the summer transfer window.

But a bid from Manchester United may just turn the Dutchman’s head despite him previously playing down a move away from the Phillips Stadion.

“I am not concerned with big clubs or with rumours about interest,” said Bergwijn, when previously asked about his future.

“I have remained with PSV this summer because I want to continue the line here to the end of the season.” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about transfers in his press conference on Friday ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Brighton this weekend.

The temporary Red Devils boss failed to provide an update on potential incomings but did rule out Scott McTominay leaving on loan.

“Scott is working hard,” he said. “He’s a young boy I still believe in, we’re working on his contract, with the injuries of [Marouane] Fellaini as well and the squad we have I’m not sure we’re going to see any movement.”
