Just like Journalist Moses Dola who was handed a 10 year jail term for killing his wife, a woman found guilty of murdering her boyfriend has been jailed for 10 years.
Mary Atai Mungau was sentenced by the Nakuru High Court for the murder of Paul Kituru on September 10, 2014, at Royal Spring Annex Hotel in Nakuru town.Ms Mungau had been in remand since September 15, 2014.
The two lovers are said to have entered the hotel and booked a room at around 10pm on the day the man was killed.Lucy Wambui Njoroge, a waitress at Royal Spring Hotel, testified that Kituru had been a regular client at the hotel.
In her defence, Mungua said it was true they booked a room, but denied killing Kituru. A postmortem report presented by Titus Ngulung showed that Kituru had three bruises on the back of the head and the chest.
While making the sentence, Justice Joel Ngugi said: “In my view, a sentences of 10 years will be an appropriate one for this crime.
