Blow For Man Utd And Liverpool As Real Madrid Look Set Sign Highly-Rated Brazilian Prospect

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit to sign Brazilian defender Eder Militao, with Real Madrid set to trigger the player’s release clause.

Rumours have done the rounds about United’s interest in Militao since the summer, and talkSPORT recently ran a player profile on the FC Porto centre-back, noting more interest from the Premier League with Liverpool said to be keen.

The 21-year-old is making a solid impression in Europe following his summer transfer from Sao Paulo, where is will forever be known as a product of their academy.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madid will meet Militao’s release clause at Porto which is said to be worth £44 million. The report notes his versatility by claiming the Brazil international can play as a centre-back, right-back and defensive midfielder. That alone suggests he would be an ideal signing for United.

Porto signed former Real Madrid defender Pepe on a free transfer last week, so they might be preparing to lose Miliato after just one season at the club.

The Primeira Liga champions are on course to win a consecutive league title which would a nice send off for Miliato, though it’s a shame he looks set to join Madrid and not United.
