As the country continue to such for the Dusit D2 attack suspect, reports indicate that the wife of one of the attackers who also happens to be a prime suspect linked to the Dusit hotel attack is on the run.
In a statement from the detectives at Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s office the lady who is said to have been living in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area switched off her phone after she heard the police were looking for her.
“She had not been arrested as per the media reports but we were going for her in Eastleigh. Unfortunately, she changed the direction from where she was heading and started moving towards the Thika road side. Her phone then went off and we couldn’t continue trailing her,” said the detectives.
In addition an insider who sought anonymity said that the infomation leaked to the media way before the police could atrrest the suspect.
According to the interior cabinet secretary, the operation to rescue the victims was done and now the government and the security personnels were focused on arresting and investigating more suspects.
The suspect would have been the second to be arrested after detectives swung into action following the terror attack at the 14 Riverside Drive complex. The first one, said to be the wife of the terrorist, was arrested on the City outskirts in Muchatha, Ruaka where they even and recovered bomb-making materials
The Tuesday afternoon deadly attack left at least 21 people dead and several others injured in what was said to a well-coordinated terror attack at the five-star hotel which took place at about 3.30pm. More than 700 people trapped at the Dusit building were rescued despite the attack lasting 19 hours.
