In 2015 ,National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale was increasingly feeling the heat over his promise to deliver a list of Al-Shabaab financiers after his self-imposed deadline of 30 days had expired and was yet to give a report of the said financiers.Related image

Duales remarks had come in the wake of the Garissa University attack that killed 142 students

Days later, he appeared to change his tune, saying he was under no obligation to present any list to anyone.

“I do not have the list. I know whom I give information and therefore no one should ask me what to do,” he said. His minders had probably advised him to not utter a word after his initial pronouncements proved to be a doubled-edged sword.

Mr Duale said he would not be bullied around on the war against terrorism, which he said he was helping the government fight.Image result for aden duale

Mr Duale is not just anyone, he is the Leader of Majority in Parliament. As such, he should not be allowed to walk away from the matter so casually and with such disdain. As a national leader, he has to show he is responsible for the utterances he makes and is ready to be held accountable.

Those who lost their loved ones in that attack (Garissa University) and many other terror-related incidents that have followed Kenyans , had hoped that justice would be seen to be done.
Naming and shaming what in every sense are co-conspirators of such attacks would have been one step in the long journey to justice. That seems lost for now.
Later when the government carried out a security operation in Eastleigh , Mr Duale cried foul, lamented what he saw as ethnic profiling and threatened to quit the Government.Image result for garissa university attack

Did the death of 148 innocent Kenyans mean nothing to him?

Mwenda Njoka, the then spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government had said that the docket has its own ways of nabbing terror suspects.

“The minister receives information from different sections. If he [Duale] has the list then he should bring it forward to us.” Mr Njoka said. “But we do not rely on political statements.”

About 10 Jubilee members, led by the then TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja, mounted pressure on Mr Duale to produce the list or step aside.

Did Duale provide the list? We are tired of terror sympathizers. Full stop
