Top influential business tycoon dies in Nairobi hospital

Article ImageA Kenyan billionaire Moturi Ong’era, who made a fortune in  hotel and transport businesses is dead.

According to his son, Rodgers, Ong’era succumbed on Wednesday evening at Nairobi Hospital after months of treatment adding that he had suffered from a stroke since November and has literally been operating from the hospital.

Governor John Nyagarama, in a press statement on Thursday, hailed Moturi as

an ‘entrepreneur who believed in wealth creation, resource mobilisation and creating of jobs’.

“I have received the news of Moturi’s death with shock and sympathy. He was an advisor and a mentor to many. It’s a massive loss to our county.

“Wealth creation, creation of jobs and good governance were on top of his priorities. We shall forever miss him as a county. May God confort his family this trying moment,” the statement read.

Mr Moturi is the owner of popular  Guardian Angel Limited, Nyamira express, MM fuels, Railways holdings and limited company, Kisumu, Guardian hotels, Carmel park hotel &company. He had an interest in hotel and transport businesses and was regarded as a role model to many.

Moturi, who was born in 1924, was almost among top influencer in the geopolitics of the vast county of Nyamira.
