Supreme Court to give judgement in Babu Owino’s election petition

 

The Supreme court is set to give it’s judgement in Babu Owino’s election petition on Friday 18 th January 2019.

The Embakasi East MP  shared a notice  to all his supporters to inform them about the petition ruling set for tomorrow.

On Friday, March 2, the High Court in Nairobi nullified the election Babu Owino as the Embakasi East Member of Parliament.

In his ruling Justice Joseph Sergon indicated that Babu Owino was not validly elected further directing that a by- election be conducted in accordance to the law.

The court further ordered that Babu Owino and IEBC pay the petitioner Francis Mureithi, Ksh.2.5 million each.

However, Babu Owino’s lawyer  Edwin Sifuna made an appeal over the ruling following the overturning of the high court ruling.

Francis Mureithi who got the second  position in the 2017 elections then went ahead and made an appeal at the supreme court.

Babu Owino has expressed his confidence in that the Judiciary will uphold the will of the people of Embakasi East who elected him to serve them as their Member of Parliament.

He also welcomed his supporters to make an appearance at the court during the ruling.
