Man City ‘interested’ in Tottenham midfielder transfer amid Real Madrid rumours

Manchester City are interested in a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to reports.

Spanish outlet AS, suggest Real Madrid, Chelsea and City are all monitoring potential moves for the Danish international as speculation continues to mount over his future at the London club.

Eriksen is out of contract in 2020 and is yet to agree a new long-term deal at the club, something which has reportedly interested Real Madrid.

It is suggested City will keep tabs of the midfielder’s current contract stance and could make their own approach for him should he look for a move away from Spurs.

It is even suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have lined up Piotr Zielinski as a replacement for Eriksen should he leave the club in the near future.

However, sources quoted by AS suggest City would face stiff competition for the 26-year-old’s signature amid interest from other clubs.

“It’s hard to name just one particular top-level club who are keeping a close eye on him,” sources are quoted, “because there are sides from England, Spain, Italy and Germany.”

In terms of other transfer news, City look set to lose out on Frenkie de Jong.

The Mirror suggest the Dutch international is prepared to join PSG with the French side willing to pay Ajax’s asking price of €75million (£66.4m).

According to the report De Jong had initially identified City as his ‘preferred choice’ but is set to miss out on working alongside Pep Guardiola after the club’s failed to meet an agreed valuation.
