Kisumu Governor discharged from hospital

It has been a week since it was reported that Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o had been admitted at the hospital after he experienced complications.

According to a  Senior county government officials who visited him said he was in good condition and he had left the hospital in the morning.

“Actually he was to be discharged on Wednesday,” a staff said.

A few of his party members visited him on Wednesday, including AU envoy Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) and Mwangi Wa Iria (Muranga) .

Others were Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and a group of MCAs.

While posting on his facebook account Dp Ruto said, “Paid Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o a hospital visit. Pleased that he is responding well to treatment and wished him a speedy and full recovery.”


Nyong’o was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu on Saturday after falling ill during the installation of Archbishop Philip Anyolo at the Uzima University grounds.

His press unit said Nyong’o excused himself to seek medical attention following discomfort while attending the function.

Nyong’o was then flown to Nairobi for treatment on Sunday to meet his doctor.

Nyong’o failed to attend the Council of Governors meeting on Monday when governors elected new officials.

Oparanya was elected CoG chairman and Wa Iria became vice chairman.
