Serious offences have been committed by leaders through the aid of other individuals to fraud the country millions through the famous National Youth Service project.
The saga has finally seen Selesio Karanja, who is a church elder charged alongside former Devolution PS Peter Mangiti, senior deputy director general Adan Harakhe and 21 others.
On Thursday, Milimani Anti-Corruption Court chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi found Karanja guilty of fraudulent procurement practice involving a Sh 47.6 million tender.
Karanja is accused of engaging in a fraudulent act in procurement for inserting the name of Dama Services Ltd in the tender opening register for the procurement of training materials in the Automotive Engineering faculty tender No.NYS/RT/29/2014-2015 which the said Dama services had not been approved for the said tender.
The magistrate further barred Karanja from holding any public office.
All the accused persons, save for Karanja, were acquitted in March last year due to lack of evidence.
