Barcelona Prepare Move For Alvaro Morata But There’s Two Problems

Morata seems certain to leave Chelsea this month having struggled at Stamford Bridge since joining the Blues in 2017.

Despite a successful start to his Chelsea career, Morata has significantly tailed off and managed just five Premier League goals this season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Gonzalo Higuain in on loan.

That would enable Morata to leave the club with Barcelona wanting the former Real Madrid star.

But though Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in world football, getting a deal over the line won’t be simple according to Mundo Deportivo.

The first issue Barca face is tempting Morata to come to them rather than La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

Morata previously lived in Madrid when playing for Real and would be keen to return to Spain.

The other problem likely to hinder Barcelona is cost.

Barca already pay out big money on the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho.

And it’s claimed that they may not be able to afford Morata’s wages or a fee that Chelsea are wanting.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has suggested that Morata has a price tag of up to £45million.

“Well Alvaro Morata is going to leave Chelsea pretty soon, we’re convinced about that,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News.

“It doesn’t look like he’s got a future at the club. For whatever reason his move there has not worked out.

“But the issue is Chelsea do not want to let him go on the cheap. This is a player they invested about £57m in.

“What we’re being told today is that Chelsea are looking to get back about £45m for Morata.

“Or, if anyone’s interested in taking him on loan, the loan fees we’re talking about are £10m-12m, just to get him on loan.

“Now, the clubs that are interested are Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, we know Sevilla can’t afford him, there’s even talk in Spain that Barcelona are looking at signing him.

“But at the moment Atletico Madrid is his most likely destination.

“But if you think about it, they’re not that really desperate for strikers. They’ve got Diego Costa up front there, although he hasn’t been playing regularly.

“But they do want to sign him but I think the valuation is going to be the problem. Chelsea looking for around £45m.”
