AFC Leopards Give Fans A Reason to Smile With Mouthwatering Performance Against Chemelil

AFC Leopards brought an end to a run of poor results by beating Chemelil Sugar FC 2-1 in a week 8 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. Goals from Jeffary Odeny and Mukangula Eugene aided Ingwe to a hard earned win and Muchuma Phillip’s second half penalty only acted as a consolation to the sugar millers.

This is Ingwe’s first league win at the venue since dispatching the same side 1-0 back in 2015.

As expected, Ingwe took control of the proceedings with their traditional short passing and with the millers behind the ball, it was all they could do- at least in the opening ten minutes.

It took the visitors 26 minutes to register an attempt on goal when Mukangula Eugene’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box stung keeper Kevin Otieno’s palms. He parried it out for the match’s first corner kick.

The home side Chemelil heavily relied on breakaways but the high Leopards defense line mounted by Robinson Kamura and Isaac Oduro saw their forwards occasionally flagged for offside. Justine Monda and Phillip Muchuma were the culprits.
