US commends speed of Kenyan security services in ending Dusit D2 attack

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Tuesday terror attack incident at 14 Riverside Drive in Nairobi.

According to Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, one of the suspects, a woman only identified as Kemunto, was arrested in Mucatha, Ruaka, Kiambu County at a house where one of the attackers is said to have been living.

The other male suspect was arrested in Eastleigh area.The two have been taken to the DCI headquarters.

On behalf of the United States of America outgoing ambassador Robert Godec conveyed a message of solidarity with the country.

“The US commends the speed and courage of the Kenyan security services in ending the January 15 terrorist attack at the Dusit D2 Hotel complex in Nairobi and rescuing innocent civilians,” Godec tweeted.

Confirming that one American citizen was killed in the attack, Godec indicated that his government was assisting the family of the victim and other U.S. citizens who were affected.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those who were killed and we wish a quick, full recovery to all those injured,” he added.

“The United States again condemns in the strongest terms the horrific attack at the Dusit D2. We remain in close communication with Kenyan leaders and are providing assistance in support of Kenyan operations.
