Babu Owino: We will not allow terrorists to divide us

The past few hours has taught Kenyans prayer, unity and togetherness amid the Dusit attack.

The tragedy has brought  many closer and even as the nation mourns the lives lost, leaders have come out strongly to condemn the act.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has today  joined in the list  of leaders who have echoed the voice of Kenyans  by calling out the attackers.

Babu Owino says that Kenyans should not allow terrorists  to plant seeds of division among them but instead they should all rise to condemn the coward act.

The vocal MP says that It is our unity as a people that will defeat the intentions of those who would seek to unleash terror on us.

“As a people, our values are those of love, peace and unity and we will do everything in our power to protect these values.” he said in his statement.

MAY WE DWELL IN UNITY, PEACE AND LIBERTY! In the last few hours, the President has made the announcement that all the terrorists involved in the attack on 14 Riverside have been neutralized. We welcome this news and commend our security agencies for their swift and decisive action that rescued over 700 lives. I join fellow Kenyans in mourning the 14 innocent souls that were lost in this senseless attack and offer my condolences to their families. We will stand in solidarity with you. I further join the President in calling upon all Kenyans to unite in the face of this tragedy. It is our unity as a people that will defeat the intentions of those who would seek to unleash terror on us. At this point, I would like to emphasize that Kenya belongs to all of us. We must all jointly condemn these cowardly acts of violence. But most importantly, we must not allow the terrorists to plant seeds of division amongst us. Those who would point a blanket finger at our Muslim brothers and sisters are advancing the agenda of the terrrorists and are no better than them. There are Muslims who lost loved ones in yesterday’s attack and are currently laying them to rest at the Langata Cemetry. It is the height of insensitivity for any one to insinuate that the Muslim community somehow profits from such acts. We, as Kenyans, will not tolerate any one amongst us who will try to spread ethnic or religious based hatred and xenophobia. We condemn you as much as we condemn the terrorists. As a people, our values are those of love, peace and unity and we will do everything in our power to protect these values. May God keep us united, May God bless Kenya!
