“Don’t Bring Hopeless Cases to court!” CJ Maraga Warns New EACC Boss

Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday told off those accusing the Judiciary of laxity in the ongoing war against corruption.

Maraga who spoke after presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of ex-military intelligence officer Twalib Mbarak as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission said shoddy cases will fail.

“We want to assure you that the Judiciary will continue to do its part but let me say we’ll not allow you to use the Judiciary as the scapegoat. If you bring a hopeless case, we’ll say in our judgment why we’re dismissing it,” a firm Maraga declared.

Maraga’s comment on Monday came shortly after Attorney General Kihara Kariuki who had spoken before him challenged the Judiciary to step up its game in the ongoing anti-graft campaign.
