Makeda Ndinda, who was granted admission to Olympic Secondary School in Kibra, had her education disrupted when the institution’s management called her out.

Her parents had spoken saying that they had made the school aware but they doubt whether they had a look at it

Kenyans have argued that the school systems focus so much on the unnecessary things in the process stigmatizing a child.

Instead of schools being an accommodating space where people from different backgrounds can come in and learn about cultural diversity. They say that Schools shouldn’t be about books only.

A vocal femist Scheaffer Okore says that the stereotypes around hair and its relation to seriousness, proper academic and professional appearance is so deep and exhausting.

Kenyans have questioned on what the relationship between hair and education. The level of pettiness is quite disturbing.

In some schools, some girls are forced to shave their hair  and another question arises on why  schools put so much focus in controlling girls hair.

Kenyans have also termed this move as discriminating and that the school should apologize to the family.

Although some schools set up such rules, the big question is how does hair affect education?
