Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris  has recently shared her experience after she had a successful surgery  at  Nairobi Hospital.

The Women Rep then consulted her doctor and  following her admission on 9th and had her surgery done on the 10th.

Earlier today, she took to social media to share that she was about to be discharged from the hospital.

When she came out of surgery on the 10th , she says that she was able to eat, to drink and she was asked to give her throat some rest.

Passaris also revealed that she had both of her thyroids removed and she will have to be on thyroxine medication throughout her life.

The Women Rep says it is after the diagnosis that she started understanding why she had been feeling tired and had some of other symptoms that she might have overlooked.

She also added that she decide to do her surgery in the county despite the fact that most of her family and friends had advised her to  go  for the surgery in a different country.

Passaris says that there is need to have confidence in our systems and after her consultation she decided to go ahead with the surgery.

The women rep has also sent a message to KEBS as she campaigns for the reduction of goiter cases in Kenya.

“If our salt had enough iodine we would reduce the number of goiter cases. Kebs has to test all the salt and confirm that levels of iodine are the required ones. There is a need to balance it out,” she said.

She also mentioned that she  kept details of her Thyroidectomy low key until she  knew she was out of danger.

“I thank God for faith that reassured me that my work is not yet complete. I remain eager to learn and serve Him with humility.” she says
