Barcelona boss responds on Morata links

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has come out to clear the air on reported interest on Alvaro Morata.

Morata’s time at Chelsea seems to edge to the end with Gonzalo Higuain tipped to replace him. Valverde said the Spaniard is a great player but he is still a player for Chelsea.

“I can only say the same thing. That he’s a great player, that he’s at another team and that we respect that a lot. We have to look at it, it’s clear that after Munir’s departure we have space. We’ll see if we can sign a player, although we have to take into account the club’s economic conditions. We will see if we can, if someone comes.” the Barca boss said.

With Arsenal falling to West Ham United, Unai Emery has defended the team saying that the players he selected deserved the places and that they should have won the match. Emery’s defence comes after Mesut Ozil’s omission was questioned and whether the club will reinforce in January.

“We had players who could work. All we need to do is continue working and taking confidence. We have enough players to continue in our way, the club is working but I am happy with my players.” Emery said.

He had earlier claimed that Arsenal might only go for players available for loan spells.
