Manchester United handed defensive injury boost ahead of Tottenham trip

Image result for marcos rojoMarcos Rojo appears to have handed Manchester United a welcome injury boost by training at the AON Training Complex ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tottenham.

Rojo’s last appearance for United came in the 2-1 defeat by Valencia on December 12 and he has struggled with an unspecified injury ever since.

However, after missing United’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai this week, the defender was back at Carrington on Saturday morning.

Rojo spent time in his Argentina homeland while United trained in the Gulf and Solskjaer sounded downbeat about Rojo’s chances of featuring at Wembley when he was asked about the 28-year-old’s fitness in his press conference on Thursday.

“Rojo? He has gone back to Argentina for a while because of his injury,” Solskjaer said. “How long will he be out for? How long is a piece of rope? For him it was mentally important to go away and come back fresh again.”

However, Rojo could be in contention for the trip to London after he uploaded a picture to Instagram of him sitting in the Carrington dressing room wearing a pair of boots, seemingly preparing to train.Image result for marcos rojo injury

The availability of Rojo would ease United’s defensive crisis, with Eric Bailly currently suspended and Chris Smalling struggling with a foot injury which has seen him miss the Reds’ last six games.

United’s interim manager Solskjaer confirmed his staff and players will get the train to London on Saturday.

The M.E.N. will be providing pictures of United’s travelling squad later today and it is then when it will become clearer if Rojo is in contention to feature at Wembley
