Chelsea’s new conditions before selling star

According to reports from Metro, Chelsea are prepared to accept Bayern Munich’s offer for Callum Hudson-Odoi if they agree to insert a buy-back clause into the transfer.

The German champions have made no secret of their desire to bring the teenager to Bavaria and have already made four bids, the latest of which reached £35million. Chelsea want to keep Hudson-Odoi but are conscious that he only has 18 months left on his current contract and has threatened not to extend his deal if Bayern’s offer is rejected.

But The Times claim Chelsea are now prepared to let the 18-year-old move to Bayern on the condition that a buy-back clause is included in the deal. Bayern are reluctant to agree to Chelsea’s demands, however, and know full well how much Hudson-Odoi’s value could explode if he takes the Bundesliga by storm. Fellow England youth prospect Jadon Sancho moved to Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago for a fee in the region of £8m and the club now value him at 10 times that figure after a stunning campaign.

Chelsea are said to be extremely reluctant to risk seeing another talented youngster leave the club only to thrive elsewhere, such as Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah. Similarly, the Blues had to pay four times their sale price when Nemanja Matic was brought back to Stamford Bridge and they are determined to avoid repeating that error. Chelsea are believed to be unhappy with Bayern for talking about their interest in Hudson-Odoi publically, with Maurizio Sarri furious at his press conference on Friday.
