Police in Siaya County are probing the death of a 32-year old woman who was allegedly killed by her husband in Alego/Usonga sub-county. Benta Nyar Taita is said to have met her death after a scuffle ensued between her and her 40-year old husband, Collins Odiemo on Wednesday night.

Her body is said to have been secretly removed from Nyalula village, Kadenge sub-location.

According to neighbours, Odiemo called the area Assistant Chief Mr. Jacob Ouma who issued a death notification slip before he allegedly moved the body from Nyalula village to Bama hospital mortuary in a bid to cover up her death.

The Assistant chief is reported to have accompanied Odiemo to the mortuary but later withdrew the death notification slip after members of the public started questioning why he authorised the removal of the body instead of alerting police.

Area Chief at South Central Alego Ouma Osodo later stated that no arrest has so far been made in regard to the suspected murder.
