Real Madrid ‘make decision over Santiago Solari’s future’ amid Jose Mourinho talk

Real Madrid are ready to stick with manager Sangtiago Solari despite his side’s poor form.

Solari replaced Julen Lopetegui in November and has won 11 of his 15 matches in charge.

But his side were beaten by Real Sociedad last weekend and have also suffered humiliating 3-0 defeats by Eibar and CSKA Moscow.

Real currently lie fifth in La Liga, 10 points behind league leaders Barcelona .

Sacked Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to the Bernabeu and reportedly turned down the manager’s job at Benfica last week.

But according to reports in Spain, Real will stick with their manager unless their season becomes a “bloodbath”.

Real face Leganes in the Copa del Rey tonight and Solari said: “We have to pay more attention in the opening minutes, it’s something we all know we have to improve on.

“Leganes are a very solid, competitive team so we’ll have to be aware of their speed when they counterattack us, and we’ll have to make sure we take our chances in attack.

“The Copa del Rey is a fantastic trophy and we’ll approach this game with the same excitement as we do every competition. We try and put all our energies into every competition, each one has its own characteristics.”
