The Premier League clash of the weekend takes place at Wembley on Sunday when Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham take on a Manchester United side rejuvenated under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Should the visitors go on and secure another victory this weekend, Solskjaer would become the only manager in Man Utd history to ever win his opening six matches in charge – surpassing the legendary record of Sir Matt Busby. However, if Spurs triumph on their own patch then they will finally end a hoodoo that has plagued the club for a whopping 29 years!

Remarkably, the 1989/90 season – before the glitz and glamour of the Premier League – was the last time Tottenham completed the league double over Man Utd. In the 29 successive seasons since then they have tried, and failed, to topple their opponents both home and away in the top-flight, only to have frustrating come up short on each occasion.

Spurs supporters will be hoping it’s different this time around, having recorded a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Old Trafford back in the hazy days of August, and now the capital club have the chance to do the double over the Red Devils for the first time in the Premier League era.

Pochettino’s men, third, have been installed as the 21/20 favourites to bag the three points on Sunday, with Man Utd a 5/2 shot to make it six wins out of six under Solskjaer.

United used to love playing Spurs away, but they haven’t returned North with the spoils since the Sir Alex Ferguson era; David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho have all failed to win in North London during this time, while United have come away empty-handed on each of their three visits. Although on the plus side, Solskjaer did win nine of his 11 duels against Spurs during his playing days…
