Has Anne Waiguru Dumped DP William Ruto?

Has Kerinyaga governor Anne Waiguru dumped Deputy President William Ruto? That is the billion dollar question after her latest move to dine with opposition leaders.

Waiguru and Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga on Thursday led a consortium of women politicians in lashing out at those fighting over the 2022 elections. Speaking to the Press in Nairobi, the women leaders from across the political divide said they have dropped hardline stances for the sake of development.

But some people smell betrayal in the whole thing.

“We reject early campaigns that are polarising this country and opening wounds when elections are more than three years away,” said Governor Waiguru.

“We reject politics that preach tribe against tribe, region against region and party against party,” she said, adding: “We reject in totality the politics of blackmail, intimidation, threats and bloodshed. We have been therefore before and we as women are not going back there again.”

Others present were Sabina Chege (Muranga Woman Rep), Mishi Mboko (Likoni MP) and Rosa Buyu (Kisumu Woman Rep).

They further termed the recent succession wars pitting Jubilee leaders against each other over the 2022 elections as backward. They urged their counterparts to embrace the handshake and inclusivity saying that any other part is a path to darkness.

While announcing a new movement dubbed “Embrace” they cited the building bridges initiative as the principle behind their move. They added that the Big Four Agenda will secure the future of the country.

“We will stand with Uhuru and Raila in the path they are leading the country… The handshake is not about Uhuru and Raila, it is about all of us,” said Wanga.
