The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission has revealed that Mr Halakhe Waqo who was the first secretary/CEO of EACC tenure has officially ended paving way for appointed Twalib Abdallah Mbarak to be the secretary/CEO of EACC with effect from 11 January 2019.
Mbarak will be sworn in to office on January 2019 by the chief justice. EACC has bid Halakhe Waqo farewell wishing him all the best in seasons to come.
Today marks the end of the six-year term for Mr. Halakhe Waqo who was the first Secretary/CEO of EACC. During his time, the Commission made great strides in the fight against corruption. We bid him a warm farewell and wish him all the best in the seasons to come.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 16 (1) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act, EACC appointed Twalib Abdallah Mbarak to be the Secretary/CEO of EACC with effect from 11 January 2019. Mr. Mbarak will be sworn in to office on 14 January 2019 by the Chief Justice.

Twalib declared his job an institutional that is “wobbling”. He added that it will take time to infuse sanity and that this will only be through the support of all.
Twalib, who was before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) broke into tears as he talked about his mother and the role she played in shaping him and instilling the integrity he upholds today.
“The view that there is a high office that controls the commission won’t exists in my tenure, but if such calls comes from the high office and its likely to compromise my work, I will opt to resign and Baringo North MP Zephania Chepkonga. I will not get any orders from anywhere. I will be fair to all citizens.”
Mr. Twalib also promised to conduct an audit of the high voltage files that have been stuck with the commission for ages to ensure the cases are fast tracked.
