Dennis Oliech’s goal a well timed reminder of his quality, a trait we will need in Egypt

The menace has just gone on and done it! Done what you ask? Silenced the critics and the naysayers! Unless you have been living in a hole, you surely must know that Dennis Oliech scored his first goal for the club of his dreams, Gor Mahia, in a 2-1 win over Posta Rangers at the Kasarani National Stadium.

The beauty of it all is that Oliech did not just score a goal in a 4-0 or 5-1 match that Gor were coasting through, he scored the winner in a tightly contested affair just minutes after Rangers had equalized and had the upper hand. For starters, Gor Mahia badly needed a natural goalscorer especially after Meddi Kagare’s unexpected departure last season and even though Oliech’s signing raised a few eyebrows, if felt like the perfect fit. Now, it surely seems like the perfect fit.

The goal, after a nice turn inside the box that left a defender hopelessly  sitting on his backside, was coolly  slotted past the Rangers keeper, with his weaker left foot too! The strike oozed class on so may levels such that a few more repeats on YouTube doesn’t feel like a waste of time. That Ladies and gentlemen is what Dennis the menace offers you, a fighting chance and a touch of class.

Gor Mahia now posses a very capable match winner in their ranks and he has already proven his worth in only his first start for the club. Oliech’s talent has never been in doubt and at 33, his experience will come in handy too during different phases of the season. Barring an unlikely scenario where he lacks game time or a serious dip in form, Dennis will continue to cause havoc inside the opponents box judging by his performance in the Posta Ranger’s match.

We all know that the Menace really wants to be on that plane to Cairo come June, Sebastian Migne has already claimed that he will not shy away from giving him his chance provided he proves his worth in a K’Ogallo shirt first. Wednesday afternoon was the first step in gaining the faith of his club manager and most importantly, Migne’s trust too.

Whatever your opinions are on Kenyan Football, Dennis Oliech is  the most talented forward we have ever produced, to have him fit and sharp in-front of goal is vital for our chances in the African Cup Of Nations later this year! Fingers crossed he maintains that level because we will need him in Egypt, Make no doubt about it!
