Trouble in Nairobi Paradise as Sonko’s staff takes off

The County Government of Nairobi has apparently been running on auto pilot according to the former Nairobi County Education CEC Janet Muthoni Ouko.

In an interview with one of the TV stations Ms Ouko who resigned from the Nairobi operations said that his residnation was attributed by the constant intimidation, insults and threats from Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

However her sentiment were dismissed by the Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko saying that her departure was an opportunity for job creation.

“It is not fine to have people living under fear of blackmail, EACC, arresting, locking up offices, its chaos…,” she said.

According to Political analyst Javas Bigambo  the departure of Sonkos staff smells danger in the county leadership.

Bigambo further added saying, “Some of the things the governor is doing should be done by the executive… what would make someone leave office after 2 years…”

Other CECs who have succumbed to the pressure of the governor include Veska Kangogo, Danvas Makori, and Emma Mukuhi.

Six months after elections Sonko’s deputy governor Polycarp Igathe resigned citing failure to earn the trust of his boss Sonko.

This gave sonko a chance to offer Miguna Miguna the opportunity  to be as his deputy, a decision that was thwarted by the county assembly.

Devolution CEC Larry Wambua’s fate remains uncertain. This, only leaving three CEC’s Allan Igambi Finance, Charles Kerich Lands and Mohammed Dagane Transport in office.
