Manchester United, Arsenal to battle for Belgian star

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco.

Carrasco left Atletico Madrid last year February and joined Chinese Super League Dalian Yifang where he has spent one season. The two clubs are looking to bolster their squads during this January transfer window and the 25-year-old has emerged as the top target. Reports from Sky Italia claim the former Atletico Madrid is also attracting interests from AC Milan but it is understood Carrasco wants a move to the Emirates.

After joining the Chinese Super League, Carrasco made an immediate impact, netting seven goals while providing five assists in 25 appearances. He is capable of playing in a more defensive role and has been used as a wing-back by Roberto Martinez for Belgium’s national team.

His agent Radio Marte, however, noted that a move to Serie A, “It’s useless to keep secrets in football, and it’s true there was interest from Napoli. In the end he chose China though. I’m convinced that sooner or later he’ll play in Italy, because Serie A is destined to grow.

“I’m not basing that affirmation on hope alone, I have concrete reasons to believe Carrasco will play in Italy in the future.”

Yannick Carrasco has interest from Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United, but the player prefers a move to the Premier League and more specifically Arsenal.
