Kane tipped to overtake Messi and Ronaldo

Harry Kane is now Tottenham’s 4th all-time leading goalscorer after netting on Tuesday night against Chelsea in the League Cup, with Robbie Keane now backing him to eventually take top spot.

Kane hit his 160th goal for Spurs to seal a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final — a strike which saw him move one clear of Cliff Jones. England captain Kane still needs another 107 strikes to replace Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s most prolific goal-getter ever, but Keane is sure he’ll achieve the feat.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports, Keane — who netted 122 times in 306 games for Spurs between 2002 and 2011 — said of Kane: ‘He’s tremendous.’

‘I’m sure he’ll stay at this club for a long time. He loves it here. There’s no question that he can get to Jimmy Greaves’ record. What I like about Harry is that… everyone keeps talking about “ah, next year is he going to be good?” He keeps doing it. I’m sick of people saying “is he tired?” because he keeps banging the goals in and that spurs him on.

‘When you speak to him he gets annoyed when people keep mentioning it and then he just keeps coming on the pitch and keeps scoring goals. For me at this moment in time, he’s the best No 9 in the world.’
