Janet Muthoni Ouko, who recently resigned as Nairobi County Education CEC, now claims the move was due to constant intimidation, insults and threats from Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

In an interview with Citizen TV, Ouko painted a picture of a chaotic County Executive wing running on autopilot.

“It is not fine to have people living under fear of blackmail, EACC, arresting, locking up offices, its chaos…,” she said.

The governor however dismissed her decision saying that this would pave way for a more competent person to fill the vacancy.

Sonko has since issued a press statement explaining the rot going on in Nairobi county as millions are lost under bursary disbursement.

He has revealed that the county has lost money amounting to over 10 million in two scandals with the first one happening between the period of 2013-2016 and the second one in 2017-2018.

In the first scandal he has exposed that a fake small company opened around River road by the names of Kobutho education center has been swindling money meant for poor bright students.

He claimed having statements from Nairobi City County showing that they have been issuing many  cheques to the fake educational center which then banks the money from the county’s cooperative account into their Equity account which is then withdrawn in cash.

The matter he says was reported to the police and after investigations conducted suspects who are some of his senior officers have been arraigned in court.
