Chelsea youngster rejects new contract offer in favor of January exit

Bayern Munich is reportedly awaiting feedback on their increased £35m bid for talented teenage star Callum Hudson-Odoi.

This latest bid is rumoured to be the fourth made by the German champions in their attempts to lure the 18-year-old across from the Premier League to the Bundesliga.

Hudson-Odoi has started Chelsea’s last two competitive games, but ESPN claims that this recent sequence of appearances in the first team hasn’t been enough to convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal on offer.

Bayern’s sporting director recently confirmed that they “absolutely want to sign” Hudson-Odoi this month, and that seems to have turned the player’s head after he allegedly asked to be sold in the wake of Bayern’s flurry of bids for his services.

To complicate matters, Hudson Odoi’s teammate Antonio Rudiger, who made 66 appearances for Stuttgart before making the switch to Chelsea, has offered the youngster advice on life in Germany.

“He asked me about Germany,” Rüdiger said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. “It was a general question from him. He is still young, I can advise him, but at the end of the day, he decides about his future.

“You can see it from both sides. He can develop here but he can develop in Germany as well – and don’t forget Bayern Munich are also a big club. For his future, I wish him all the best but I just wish he stays with us.”

Hudson Odoi’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in the British summer of 2020 so this deal could still go both ways.
