Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi responds to Bayern transfer speculation

Callum Hudson-Odoi says he is “fully focused” on getting results for Chelsea amid transfer interest from Bayern Munich

Hudson-Odoi was named in Chelsea’s starting line-up for Tuesday night’s EFL Cup semi-final against Tottenham despite speculation linking him with a January move to Bundesliga giants Bayern.

Standard Sport understands that Bayern have made an improved offer worth £31.4million for Hudson-Odoi: the German club have already had three offers turned down for the 18-year-old, but are refusing to take no for an answer.

Reports in Germany suggest Chelsea have accepted the bid but are trying to keep their young talent until the summer, and tonight’s starting spot appears to be the first statement of intent from the Blues.

Hudson-Odoi’s current deal runs out in 2020 and he has refused to sign the five-year extension offered last summer.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s cup clash with London rivals Spurs, Hudson-Odoi insisted that he would not let the glare of the spotlight affect his game.

Asked if he would be able to ‘blot out’ the growing speculation over his future, the winger told Sky Sports: “Yeah, 100 per cent, I’m fully focussed on the game and just gotta see how the result goes.

“I think we’re all ready and all determined to work our hardest out there, so I’m fully focused on the game.”
