Man Utd Fans Will Love Marcus Rashford’s Nostalgic Tweet About Ole Gunnar Solskjae

Rashford, along with the majority of United’s first-team squad, have travelled to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp.

The side flew out following their 2-0 win over Reading last Saturday in the FA Cup, taking a welcome break following the busy festive schedule.

That stacked fixture list featured five games in 14 days and was preceded by the sacking of Jose Mourinho and installation of his short-term replacement, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rather than adding to the hecticness of the situation, however, the Norwegian has restored a sense of calm and happiness at Old Trafford with five wins from five.

The former United striker has backed up his eulogising over the values of Manchester United, which are based on attacking football, hard work and promoting youth.

Rashford, who came through the youth ranks from the age of eight, epitomises that identity.

Under the tutelage of Solskjaer, who Sir Alex Ferguson described as the “best natural finisher” he ever managed in his 2013 autobiography, Rashford has been deployed in his preferred No 9 role and scored three goals in his last four starts.

The 21-year-old is clearly enjoying his time under Solskjaer, and tweeted a photo of the legendary United striker speaking to him, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard while in Dubai with a caption which United fans will love.

Insinuating Solskjaer’s speech, Rashford tweeted: “‘Seconds left.. Becks whipped in a perfect corner. Teddy flicked it on. The rest is history.’”

The caption references the 1999 Champions League final which United famously won with two goals in injury time.

Solskjaer went down in club folklore for scoring the winner, which made United the first English club to win the treble, after Teddy Sheringham flicked on a header from David Beckham’s corner.

Solskjaer hopes that Rashford can go on to be a better striker than he was, and has already been highly complimentary of the Mancunian.

Speaking after Rashford’s goal at Newcastle last week, the United boss said: “I can talk about loads of individuals, but when you’re a striker like he is, scores such a great goal… Calm, composed, just passes it past the goalkeeper.

“But then his free-kicks, that was of course the start against Cardiff and then he does it again. He’s got a great hit, he must have been watching Cristiano when he was practising.

“He gets kicked, he gets tackled, he goes for headers, he wins, he challenges, he runs. He is going to be a top, top number nine, definitely.”
