The 20-year-old will join the Stamford Bridge club at the end of the season.

“I think they [Chelsea] definitely see me in one of the wider areas, but I think they also know that I can play kind anywhere across the attack,” ESPN quoted Pulisic as saying.

“So I’m ready for wherever I need to be filled in really.”

The American’s transfer to Stamford Bridge was announced last week but Chelsea fans will have to wait until next season to see him in action as the agreement meant he would stay with Dortmund for the remainder of the season.

Christian Pulisic has stated that despite the high fee Chelsea have paid for his services, he doesn’t expect to automatically claim a spot in the starting XI. Pulisic joined the Blues last week for a fee of £57.6 million but he won’t make his switch from Borussia Dortmund until the summer. The amount Chelsea have paid for him is a record for an American player, of which the 20-year-old believes proves he’s definitely wanted at the club.Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, outdoor

‘For them to do this and to want me this much I think yeah they must like me, at least a little bit,’ Pulisic told ESPN. ‘I’d imagine when you first go in you have to go in and you earn the respect of the guys. ‘I’m sure they’re all great guys off the field, just like this team [Dortmund] is and you got to go in and on the field you have to earn your spot.

‘Every training, every game, any time I get the opportunity, just like here I have to take it and I have to prove to them that I’m worthy of being on the field and playing with that team. ‘Once I get there then I’ll just be fighting every single day and I’ll be ready for it.’ Chelsea’s next game is against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
