Chelsea in search of Fabregas replacement

Chelsea are in the market for a new midfielder to allow Cesc Fabregas to leave the club. Fabregas has agreed to join Monaco in the summer but is keen on switching to the Ligue 1 side this month. Chelsea will not allow the Spaniard to go until they have got a replacement in for him.

The two most likely candidates appear to be Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella and Zenit St Petersburg’s Leandro Paredes. Barella could cost a fee in the region of £45million and he has been told he is expected to become a Chelsea player in the next few days.

“I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion, he needs to go. You know very well in this club there is a rule – the renewal of players over 30 is usually for one year. He has an offer for two years, I don’t want a very important player as Cesc not happy.”
