Manchester United’s interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the perfect start to life in charge at Old Trafford.

The likable Norwegian has inspired a fine winning run over Christmas and New Year and on Saturday they secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup without too many dramas against Championship side Reading.

One of the key players in United’s revival has been the much maligned Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. He spent much of the season looking woefully short of confidence in front of goal and came in for some severe criticism but he is looking like a different player since Solskjaer arrived. He has scored in every game where he’s featured for Solskjaer.

Now, Lukaku has spoken out about his upturn in form – crediting the former United striker who was christened the “babyface assassin” for his renewed confidence in front of goal.

“Movement-wise, and stuff like that, but obviously he knows the type of striker that I am,” Lukaku told the Mirror. “I think from the first day when I came back in, he did a total analysis of my game and I was really surprised.

“He helped me a lot and I am looking forward to keeping on working with him. He talks to me all the time, all the time and I like that, and he plays in a way that I like to play, and also the rest of the team.

“We are just enjoying our football right now, but he wants us to win and we want to win.”
