How Gor Mahia Coach wants experienced Oliech to help them out of the gutters

Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay is banking on Dennis Oliech to lead their title defence after another dour display by his forwards in the 1-1 draw against Mathare United on Sunday.

Oktay started with Jacques Tuyisenge and Nicholas Kipkirui upfront but had to withdraw the latter in the second half to hand Oliech his debut.

The Cypriot coach decried the lack of cutting edge from his strikers who he insists should have killed the game early on.

“We dropped two good points after dominating both halves,” lamented Oktay.

“We are punished any time we fail to utilize our chances. Oliech will help us because of his experience, his finishing in training is fantastic, he has very good skills, we will play him more to have match fitness because he knows his potential,” observed the 42-year-old.

The 17-time champions lie eighth on the log with seven points, as many below joint leaders Mathare United and Western Stima after five rounds.

“We gave them a new year present but every game is teaching us something and it has to take us to the next level.

“The only problem is the final third that I need to fix otherwise we are playing attractive football, the results will surely come but we need to be a little bit patient,” he added.
