Land Tussles in Obado’s Migori County Hit ODM Chairman Hardest

Police have launched investigations into a land tussle which left the son of Migori County ODM Party Chairman Philip Makabongo serious wounded when a fight erupted between two factions battling over a 1.4-acre piece of land at Kitere area in Rongo Constituency.

According to eye witnesses, the Saturday evening fight ensued between the victim (Patrick Makabongo) and the son of the area assistant chief Mr. Joseph Nyamanga who are involved in the land tussle.

According to Mr.Philip Makabongo (father to Patrick Makabongo), his two sons went to the land which he claims he acquired legally after he allegedly won a court case challenging his ownership when his sons were attacked by the family of the area assistant chief that also claims ownership of the land.

The Migori ODM Chairman has insisted that he wants justice for his son who was admitted at Kisii Level V Hospital after sustaining panga cuts.

The area assistant chief, who claims that he was a way when the fight ensued said the land dispute is not yet resolved, adding that the matter is still before court. He further stated that he received a court injunction in December 2018 stopping the two parties from stepping on the disputed land.

The area administrator insisted that his brother sold the piece of land to Mr. Philip Makabongo unprocedurally and therefore he decided to challenge the transaction in court.
