Jurgen Klopp WAS Inside Pep Guardiola’s Head – It’s All Changed Now

That’s according to Russian journalist Sasha Goryunov who thinks the Liverpool manager has held the upper hand in the pair’s battles – up to now.

Klopp has a good record against the Manchester City boss but suffered defeat in the massive clash between the pair at The Etihad on Thursday.

And Goryunov wonders if that spell has now been broken following an emotion-charged 2-1 win for the champions over the league leaders.

On the Totally Football Show, Goryunov said: “You should see it as a huge psychological boost for City here.

“I think what we’ve seen over the last year and a bit, maybe even longer, is that Klopp‘s definitely inside Pep’s head.

“And I think after today Pep can look at himself and maybe give himself a lot more confidence about what he does and his methods.

“They had a few defeats recently as well and for him to collect his team for this big match and actually come through it and defend, I mean yes there were goalmouth scrambles, but City players were putting their bodies on the line.

“It was a completely committed performance.”

A win was vital for City if they still harboured any hopes of retaining their title.

Liverpool would have gone 10 points clear of City with victory, but the champions’ win means the gap is just four points with 17 games left to play.

Sergio Aguero gave the City the lead with a stunning finish from a tight angle before Roberto Firmino levelled things up for the visitors.

Leroy Sane sealed the win with a pin-point finish to ensure the title race remains well and truly on.
