A day after Senator Kyle McCarter was confirmed as the new US Ambassador to Kenya he has confirmed to work hand in hand and support the government of Kenya.
McCarter seems to know Kenya quite well as he has promised to support the handshake initiative that came to be on March 9th as a sign of peace building after the 2017 general election.
While he was answering to the commitee about the Bridging Bridges Initiative and the handshake between President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, McCarter noted that indeed ethnic divisions was a big issue in Kenya and will support it as with such partnership the country can overcome challenges.
In addition he said, “These things don’t get better overnight. Devolution may help reduce tensions and I am hopeful that new leadership will emerge at local levels through the initiative.”
President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga agreed on building bridges as soon as they agreed to forget about elections and focus on the country’s development.
