Christian Eriksen has been in sensational form for Tottenham Hotspur over the Christmas period, but while the Danish international is flourishing for the north London club it’s reported that he is stalling on signing a new contract, which has left some of the European big-hitters eyeing up a move for his signature.

Eriksen has scored four goals in his last six matches for Spurs, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men have soared to second spot in the Premier League, but the Evening Standard has reported that the 26-year-old is not willing to sign a new contract as we head into the second half of the season, and it will mean some of the world’s biggest clubs will start thinking about launching a bid.

The Danish attacking midfielder is currently earning around £75,000 a week, but a new contract could see him double that figure and he could join Dele Alli in earning around £150,000 a week as Spurs try to keep all their premier players, as they look to surge for the top-flight title.

However, La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked with Eriksen over the last couple of seasons and both of those Spanish clubs can offer the Dane in excess of that £150k figure, and with him now reaching his prime then he is sure to have second thoughts about signing on the dotted line at Spurs.

Speaking in the aftermath of Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Cardiff City a couple of days, Pochettino failed to shed any light on the latest goings-on with Eriksen’s contract by saying, “The phrase is no news is good news.”  So, that rather sit-on-the-fence comment will not ignite any positive vibes from Spurs’ fans worried about Eriksen’s future, and you have to feel if either Real or Barca come in with a huge bid for the Danish sensation then he could be willing to move away from north London.
