Christian Eriksen set for Spurs exit with La Liga giants his likely destination

Eriksen has been key to Tottenham's success this season

Christian Eriksen is one of the most influential attacking midfielders in the world and has been attracting the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs for months now. He is contracted at Spurs until the summer of 2020 but with his value rising and approaching the peak of his powers, it is a serious possibility that he could say goodbye to north London in the near-future.

The Danish magician has been in fine form once again this season scoring four Premier League goals and bagging eight assists whilst in the Champions League he has scored twice. These performances along with those impressive displays in earlier seasons have meant Eriksen is tipped to join one of Spain’s big boys and he could be the perfect fit for both of them.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have wonderful attacks that can cause damage to any defence in world football but goals from midfield, especially outside the area are harder to come by. Real Madrid, in particular, have a real issue when it comes to goals from midfield with only Isco scoring more than once for them this season from the centre of the park. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have both hit one apiece but they are in desperate need of a younger more dynamic midfielder and Eriksen is the perfect fit.

In fact, since his Premier League debut, he has scored 19 goals from outside the box in the Premier League, which is more than any other player in that time period.

If Real Madrid can tempt him to join that would improve their midfield no end. The same can be said for Barcelona who obviously rely on Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for the majority of their goals. Ivan Rakitic is the highest goalscorer for them from midfielder but even he has only managed three goals this season.

Having a midfielder who is confident to have a go from long range or from the edge of the box is key to a successful side. Frank Lampard made a career out of it. Now Christian Eriksen has proved himself to be the deadliest finisher in the Premier League from outside the box, the Spanish giants should begin to make moves to secure his signature.
