Boinnet speaks on reduced crime rates; ask Kenyans to be responsible

The Inspector General Joseph Boinnet has today updated Kenyans on the reduction of criminal activities.

Speaking to the press, Boinnet also got to  introduce to the public the new regional police commanders.

On behalf of the Kenya Police Service, Boinnet also gave thanks to the  public for heeding their call to be extra cautious on highways which resulted to fewer incidences of crime and accidents.

From their records, they have seen a drop in the numbers of criminal incidents and fatality incidences according to the release by the National Transport and Safety  Authority.

Boinnet also urged all public road users to express a sense of responsibility to ensure that road sanity is maintained.

He also added that cyclists should also use protective gear to avoid putting themselves into harm.

Pedestrians were also advised to be careful  when using  the public roads especially at night. He warned that some are pedestrians assume that the driver usually sees them which is not usually the case.

Speaking on the issue of new police uniforms, Boinett also confirmed that the material of the material will be supplied by the local manufacturers and will be stitched by the National Youth Service.

This decision was arrived at  with the intention to stimulate the local textile industry as well as the entire value chain.
