Ramsey was increasingly finding himself coveted by a host of top European sides.

As Standard Sport reported last month Juventus are eager to make the Welsh midfielder their latest high-profile free acquisition, following in the footsteps of players such as Andrea Pirlo, Dani Alves and Paul Pogba.

It’s believed the 28-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal worth £145,000-a-week.

They were not alone. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen to secure his signature. Ramsey is able to sign a contract with any European club immediately but will not move until his Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season.

Fabio Paratici, Juventus’ sporting director, said: “He’s a great player, we really like him and he plays for a great team. His contract is expiring and we’re always alerted to situations that the market offers, so we’ve also been alerted to Ramsey.

“I repeat, for now he’s an Arsenal player and we’re not the only team who want him.”

Arsenal withdrew a contract offer worth around £170,000-a-week for Ramsey in September after deciding their limited wage funds would be better spent on players other than the 28-year-old, who has started just seven Premier League games this season.

Ramsey has continued to perform impressively for the Gunners and scored the decisive third goal in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Fulham on New Year’s Day, after which Unai Emery said he expects the player to stay at Arsenal.
