Klopp makes shocking revelations about Chelsea’s new signing

Jurgen Klopp thinks former transfer target Christian Pulisic will be a 'good signing' for Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp  believes former transfer target Christian Pulisic will be a ‘good signing’ for Chelsea after his move to the Premier League was announced on Wednesday.

The highly regarded American winger, 20, completed a £58million switch to Stamford Bridge on the second day of the January window but will return to Dortmund for the rest of the campaign.

Klopp has been a long-term admirer of Pulisic and even tabled an £11m bid for him back in 2016 that was swiftly rejected by the Bundesliga giants.

Klopp was keen to reunite himself with a player who signed for Dortmund towards the end of his managerial reign at the club. He scored twice against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly this summer and Klopp described him as ‘a fantastic skilled boy’ in glowing praise afterwards.

When Klopp was asked about his move to the Premier League in his press conference at Melwood, Klopp said: ‘Another really good player for Chelsea.

‘He’s a good player. I have known him for a while and followed him closely but it’s a good deal for Dortmund because they can keep him until the end of the season and good signing for Chelsea.

‘We will see another really skilled boy playing in England.’

Sportsmail reported in November that the American attacking midfielder was set for a switch to Stamford Bridge as Dortmund accepted they had to cash in on a player who was out of contract in 2020.

Pulisic can operate as a wide attacker in Maurizio Sarri’s style and is at an age with plenty of scope to develop and improve.

He has been forced out of the team in recent weeks by the emergence of England international Jadon Sancho.

After confirmation of the move, the 20-year-old midfielder said: ‘In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players.’
