Ruto Bows to the Uhuru-Raila truce

Politcians have marked the end of year with messages of unity and togetherness.

The Deputy President William Ruto followed suit yesterday after he shared his New Year Message with Kenyans.

Ruto’s major highlight was that the country is grateful for leadership, sacrifice displayed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga to bring Kenyans together and ensure no one is left behind.

“We can’t get tangible results without unity of purpose, a common front, constructive engagement with all leaders.” he added

The  Political  map experienced changes after the handshake and most leaders who had differences  only had the option to stand united in the face of Kenyans.

Although Ruto in part of the statements that were part of the headlines in 2018, he was seemingly anti- handshake as political analysts would describe it.

Some leader had also accused him of  being insincere in the support of Uhuru-Raila truce.

ODM party director of elections Junet Mohammed said the Deputy President was not sincere in his support for the handshake after his lieutenants sensationally claimed Mr Odinga was using it as a launching pad for his 2022 presidential bid.

Mr Mohammed also accused Mr Ruto of “speaking from both sides of the mouth” on the matter as he played politics.

Things are apparently taking a new twist as Ruto has eventually shown a seemingly genuine appreciation over the truce saying that it is what Kenyans needed; to be together

In a recent speech by the President, he elaborated that the relationship with Raila Odinga is vital and for the good of Kenyans.

The President said that he felt, together and Mr. Raila, that the country is tired of always going in economical and political turmoils after every five years. He said that both agreed to find solutions to problems ailing the country.

In a bond that has proved to be here to stay, the Deputy President  is left with the choice to support his boss and equally show appreciation to the efforts.

Kenyans believe that this is the best shot for him to get a direct ticket to 2022 Presidential Seat.
