Revealed! Why County 001 had the shortest New Year’s celebrations

Unlike other places where New year’s eve celebrations went down till late, residents of Mombasa County only enjoyed fireworks display for five minutes while their counterparts from other regions did it for as long as they pleased.

Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achokiexplained that he had received numerous applications for fireworks but could only grant them under the strict condition.

“After 12.05 a.m., no more firework displays. Thereafter, any fireworks will be considered illegal,” warned Achoki.

It is reported that the tough security measures had a lot to do with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s presence at the coast.

Achoki stated that special security teams were formed to ensure all the celebrations in the region go according to plan.

“There will be sniffer dogs, uninformed and civilian-clothed police in entertainment joints and social gatherings to ensure safety.
