Liverpool striker has Crystal Palace medical ahead of January loan

Dominic Solanke could be on his way to Crystal Palace

Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has reportedly had a medical at Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old had been tipped to join the Eagles when the January transfer window opens, with the London side in desperate need of more firepower and manager Roy Hodgson told talkSPORT a player of Solanke’s class would be a welcome addition.

Ahead of the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Palace chairman Steve Parish hinted a deal for the player was on the cards.

“We are trying, these things are never straightforward but we really are trying to get someone in early if we can,” he told beIN Sports.

“It will make a big difference and we think it will lift everybody.

“For once, the papers are not miles off what we’re looking for.”

And manager Roy Hodgson echoed his boss’ comments in an interview with talkSPORT.

“We make no bones of the fact we are looking for someone to lead our line and score some goals for us,” he said.

“We are linked with various players.

“I believe the chairman today has confirmed that there is some truth in the reports, and in my opinion it would be good if we could land a player of his class.”

Solanke, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2017, has not played a single minute of senior football for Liverpool this season.

In November, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was non-committal when asked about the player heading out on loan to play more first team football.

“We will see what happens. But we want to help Dom so he can help us. That’s the target,” he said.
