Crystal Palace should gamble on Tottenham outcast striker in January

As Tottenham Hotspur plot a major January clear-out, the Daily Mail reported striker Vincent Janssen could be among those offloaded.

With Janssen ready to be sold, Crystal Palace must swoop for the Spurs outcast and gamble that the Dutch striker can boost the Eagles with his goalscoring touch.

After an excellent season at AZ Alkmaar in 2015/16 when Janssen was the Eredivise’s top scorer, the striker has failed to replicate his form in England.

Joining Spurs in 2016, Janssen has just two goals in 28 total Premier League appearances — disappointing statistics that justify Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to offload him.

Yet although Janssen has struggled in north London, a move to SE25 could benefit both the striker and Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are desperate for a top-quality striker after the injury problems that have afflicted Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham, in addition to the poor form of Alexander Sorloth.

In a lower pressure environment where Janssen would start week-in and week-out, perhaps the Dutch striker could rediscover the goalscoring form that convinced Spurs to splash £17 million for his signature.

Crystal Palace must target striker Vincent Janssen in the January transfer window, allowing the forward to save his Premier League career and fire Palace to a top-half finish.
